Have you ever read a really good book and wanted to share it with everyone you know? Thought about joining a book club, but thought you didn’t have time? Want to be part of a county-wide conversation? Join us with this year’s One Book, One Community program!
One Book, One Community is like a community-wide book club. This year’s book is TransAtlantic by Colum McCann. Read the book, then watch for lots of programs and discussions about TransAtlantic and its themes throughout Allegheny County. Copies are available at your library, and there are lots of ways to get involved – check out a short list here.
Wondering what the book is about? Here’s an excerpt from the press release for this year’s program:
“Through the compelling personal stories of historical figures that share a common search for freedom, identity and peace, TransAtlantic explores the ties that bind McCann’s homeland, Ireland, with the United States. It is a novel that blurs the boundaries of the real and the imagined, the past and the present, and illustrates how our vast global community “grows somehow smaller and more wondrous with each passing year.”
